Evergreen’s Mental Health Counselor, Emily Laughlin
Emily joined Evergreen in June 2024. Please read below for more information on what Emily can offer our patients.
I graduated with my master’s in mental health counseling from Northwestern University in 2022. Since graduating I have been working towards dual licensure and hope to be both a licensed clinical mental health counselor (LCMHC) and a licensed alcohol and drug counselor (LADC) in the next 6 months. I specialize in working with adolescents, and young adults but have experience working with individuals across the lifespan. I work with individuals who may be experiencing struggles including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other trauma-related disorders.
I’m trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy and believe in creating a space to explore how our past impacts our present. My approach is first and foremost trauma-informed and places a strong emphasis on self-compassion in every session. I work to create a therapeutic space that is grounded in trust and rapport. I believe in creating an open and warm space where individuals can feel heard and safe.
I’m excited to build my skills in more brief interventions in this role and am happy to accept referrals for those aged 13 and up. My goal with this practice is to offer short-term support for symptom management and referrals for longer-term care as needed.
