Services

Urgent Needs and After-hours Care

We provide many services in the office that might help you avoid the long waits and hassles at the emergency room. We suture lacerations, treat minor burns, and evaluate and treat injuries such as sprains and fractures. If you are ill and need to be seen, we have urgent care appointments available every day including weekends. Also, a provider is on-call seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

Choosing a Primary Care Physician

We ask that every patient select a Primary Care Practitioner (PCP).  If you do not have a preference, we will be happy to assign one to you. A PCP necessary for every patient so that patients have a clinician to coordinate all aspects of care including providing health maintenance and acute visit care, managing all incoming records, test results, consult notes, and other documents.

When Calling the Medical Office

If you have a question for your practitioner, the receptionist will take the message and relay it to him or her. Your practitioner or a nurse will call you back with the answer or advice you need. However, please let us know if you need to speak to your practitioner directly as they usually will do so at noon, or after scheduled patients are seen.

Prescription Refills

If you are taking a medication it is because you have a condition that needs to be monitored periodically. Our providers prescribe enough refills to last until your next required visit. If you have run out of refills, we require an office visit to evaluate your condition and renew your prescription. We have same-day appointments available for this purpose.

Paying for Your Visit

We participate with most insurance companies, and bill them for you. We will be happy to discuss our billing procedures with you. Co-pays and your share of deductible amounts are due at time of service, even if you have an HSA. There is a $10 charge for late payment of co-pays.
Common insurances accepted are: Cigna, Blue Cross, MVP, VMC.

If you have health insurance we don’t accept, or you have no insurance, we welcome you to use our services and ask that you pay at the time of your visit. We offer a 20% discount if you are “self pay” and pay in full at the time of services. Accepted payment forms include: Debit cards, HSA cards, Mastercard, Visa, Discover, personal checks and cash.
Please ask if you have special circumstances that could qualify you for a payment plan arrangement.

Lab Tests and Medical Imaging

We are proud to offer on-site lab testing with immediate results for Cholesterol, Glucose, Pregnancy tests, Rapid strep, Rapid flu and Urinalysis. Diabetics can receive a Hemoglobin A1c test. We have an Anticoagulation Program for our patients on blood thinners. A Protime / INR result is available in a brief visit, with medication adjustments done immediately. If your provider orders tests such as X-ray or ultrasound, these can often be arranged the same day. Other specialized tests are arranged by our expert staff as soon as available.

Additional Services

In addition to general primary care, the following special services are available:
• Obstetrics
• Sports Medicine
• Flu Vaccine Clinics
• Family planning / vasectomy
• Worker’s compensation services
• Nursing Home Care

Getting a “Physical” (Health Maintenance Exam)

If you would like to schedule a Health Maintenance Exam, “physical exam,” please plan well in advance. Such appointments can be several weeks, or even 1-2 months out. These visits are intended for general health and wellness screening and recommendations. If you have acute or chronic symptoms or problems for which you would like a consultation, please schedule a separate visit so your issues can be given the time they need. We can sometimes accommodate school and work physicals sooner if necessary.

Well-Child Care

Your child’s health is best maintained through regular check-ups. During a check-up, we evaluate growth, development, hearing, speech, and vision. We also discuss child safety, nutrition, accident prevention, and expected changes in your child’s behavior. Your child will also receive immunizations and may get screening tests for blood lead, iron, or cholesterol.

Well-child visits are usually scheduled at two weeks and at two, four, six, nine, 12 to 15, 18, and 24 months. From the ages of two to six years, we schedule yearly physicals. After that, appointments are recommended every other year. Please call four weeks in advance for you child’s regular check-up. Schedule appointments for summer camp and school physicals several months in advance when possible.
